Top Tennis is not only a tennis training center, but also a high performance center specialized in professional women's tennis. The objective is to train players for the High Competition, offering programs and services adapted to each age and level.
Top Tennis has launched the tennis training and high performance center specialized in women's tennis located in Santa Margarida de Montbui (Barcelona).
The fact that it is a center specially for women tennis players makes it a unique project and center in Spain.
Moreover, Top Tennis also prepares for 2019 a WTA women's tennis tournament of $ 25,000, which will replace the 15,000 male ATP that has been organized the last seven years.
Among the challenges that Top Tennis has in the medium and long term, an important one is that a tennis player from the Anoia region achieves being a great professional tennis player in the high performance international level WTA / ATP. Another objective is providing training and educational scholarships in the United States for tennis players of the Top Tennis center.
The former tennis player and project leader of Top Tennis, Arcadi Manchón has been working with the Montbui Tennis Club for 14 years in a project that now "takes two steps forward". On the one hand with the training center, aimed at technicians, referees and tennis players, and on the other with the high performance center: it will have a group called "Women's élite" of between 4 and 6 players, and a second of between 8 and 10 players.
Arcadi Manchón explained that they needed more services to offer all the players who want to be among the best professional tennis players and that is why they have expanded them. Now they have a nutritionist, a physiotherapist and a classroom where they offer studies to be a tennis instructor, referee, etc, and also for the players to study English, and ESO and Bachillerato, so that players who want to be professional can train and study at the same center.
Regarding the facilities, Manchón explained that the next objectives are to have an athletics track and indoor clay courts. Of course, Manchón expressed his gratitude to all the players of Top Tennis (a total of 500) to trust him and on the Top Tennis staff during lots of years.
He emphasized that the Top Tennis coaches also educate tennis players in values such as humility, effort strategy or empathy.
Apart from authorities, sponsors and the 17 technicians of the center Manchón also thanked the involvement of the families of the Montbui Tennis Club that host players of the center from France, Guadalupe Island or China, for example.
Alejo Mancisidor and Xavier Torner are working together with Arcadi Manchón in this new project of Top Tennis. Mancisidor, who has been working at the highest level in women's tennis for 22 years, emphasized the importance of the pyramidal structure of the center, and that it includes all the levels and everyone can look up to improve. If there are missing levels or holes in the different levels, he says, all the structure is affected. Therefore Mancisidor has highlighted the importance of high competition at the top of this pyramid, both with the high performance training and with the WTA tournament. For all these reasons, he considers that the center faces "a unique opportunity to be a national and international reference center".
As far as Xavier Torner, co-founder and director for lots of years of the Lluís Bruguera School, Sport Director Women´s Tennis Team Amaya Seguros, and trainer for four years of one of the best junior players in China, will be the ambassador of Top Tennis. He will make Top Tennis be recognized not only as a training center but as a high performance center specialized in women’s tennis. He will introduce the center in the Asian market and throughout the world through the Internet and social networks.
Support of Lara Arruabarrena, Arantxa Parra and María José Martínez
The presentation of the Top Tennis high performance center was attended and supported by three top-level Spanish tennis players, who are among the top 100: Lara Arruabarrena, Arantxa Parra and María José Martínez.
Arantxa Parra highlighted the professionalism of those responsible for the project, who she has known for years. For Lara Arruabarrena it is important that the young tennis players between 10 and 18 have the support of a center like Top Tennis at a difficult time, due to resources and age. He also pointed out the importance of studying and having professional training at the same center. And María José Martínez believes that it is necessary to have a center specifically dedicated to women tennis players and she is sure that the project will be a success.
The event ended with an Lara Arruabarrena and Arantxa Parra exhibition match in one of the Top Tennis courts.
